My Italian adventure is rapidly approaching and I could not be more excited! Here is a quick look at where I will be exploring, photographing, and WWOOFing this summer. Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence, Tuscany, Elba, Rome, Naples, Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast are just a few stops on the itinerary; I cannot wait to share my journey with you.

ABOUT WWOOF:

World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms connects interested volunteers with organic farmers all over the globe who offer room and board in exchange for labor. The WWOOF organization prefers volunteers who have a sincere interest in immersing themselves in different cultures and learning about organic lifestyles, but obviously each WWOOFer’s motives and experiences are unique.

My personal WWOOF Italia experience will be molded on two farms over a span of three months: Orti Di Mare on the Isola d'Elba (the island where NAPOLEON was exiledβ€”so cool, right?!) and  San Cassiano in Caserta. Ultimately, if I can successfully learn how to make things grow organically during my WWOOF involvement I would like to apply that knowledge to my own backyard (once I have one) so I can have more control over and a better understanding of what I put into my body. The farms I chose offer everything I was hoping to learn about, from different fruits and vegetables, chickens, dairy, cheese and preserve making, vineyards, olive oil, and authentic Italian cooking. If I can also improve my basic language skills, make a few new friends, take plenty of photographs, and finally learn to keep mosquitos far away from my blood I will be a very happy camper. For more information on the WWOOF program please visit the WWOOF website!
